E3: Nintendo announces Kirby titles for Wii and DS

By Jack Taylor – 10 June 2011

We knew they were both launching in Japan this year: now, Nintendo has confirmed that two Kirby games will launch worldwide.

The first new Kirby title to launch will be Kirby Mass Attack for the Nintendo DS, which Nintendo calls a "side-scrolling real-time strategy" title in their press release.

In Kirby Mass Attack, Kirby is split into ten separate Kirbies and needs to reunite as many as he can to regain his strength: some tasks, like opening a new path, won't be possible with one Kirby, but the strength of several combined will make it much easier.

Kirby Mass Attack launches in North America on Monday, September 19, soon to be followed by a second Kirby title this year (and the third in Euope).

Kirby Adventure, the Nintendo GameCube title that never seemed to see the light of day, finally shows up in the form of as-yet-unnamed Kirby Wii, a multiplayer action title which takes the form of a classic Kirby platformer.

In Kirby Wii, the peaceful land of Pop Star receives an unexpected visit from an alien spaceship, which crash-lands only to have its parts flung all over the land.

While playing as Kirby, up to three friends can join in at any time, as King Dedede, Meta Knight and Waddle Dee are on hand to help Kirby in his latest quest.

Kirby Wii sees the return of Kirby'a abilities and also introduces new super abilities, rare and considerably more powerful abilities such as the Super Sword ability, which lets Kirby rid the screen of all the enemies on it.

Surely that's old news by now...
