Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will launch on 30 October on previously announced platforms, as well as on Nintendo Switch 2.
Square Enix has marked Dragon Quest Day (27 May) - the day on which the original Dragon Quest launched in Japan, 39 years ago - by announcing release plans for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, the second and third parts to the Erdrick trilogy.
Launching on 30 October, the game will launch for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 as previously announced, as well as adding a Nintendo Switch 2 version. Pre-orders are now open on PS5, and will follow on Switch and Switch 2 in the future.
Despite being the first and second Dragon Quest games numerically, the pair take place after Dragon Quest III chronologically, and together form the Erdrick trilogy story. The HD-2D remake overhauls the original games with an updated battle system, new story elements, new content, and a variety of quality-of-life updates.
Alongside the standalone game, a physical collector's edition is available to pre-order, including a physical copy of the game, a set of acrylic blocks, and a selection of in-game items and digital wallpapers. Digital pre-orders of the standalone game will also include an ib-game item kit, while players with Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake save data will also unlock dog and cat suits for Dragon Quest I and II respectively.
